Kurt, after an officer-involved shooting in November 2009, found solace in playing guitar during his month-long recovery. This therapeutic act led him to singing along with the chords he played and joining local jam sessions in the Hillsboro area. During one such session, he witnessed multiple musicians rise to sing, none of whom were particularly skilled. Despite their vocal shortcomings, the crowd reveled in their enjoyment, prompting Kurt to realize, “nobody cares.” This realization came to him in a healthy sense—no one cared if the musicians made mistakes or weren’t great singers.
Motivated by this newfound understanding, Kurt sought out an iconic country bar in Portland and approached the management about starting a jam session. His intention was to learn from other musicians and hone his craft. Kurt began singing, and to his surprise, people started flocking to the jam session. Even non-musicians were drawn to the atmosphere, especially on a Tuesday night. Kurt was astounded by the turnout.
Within nine months, Kurt’s talent had caught the attention of renowned musicians like Chris Young and Easton Corbin, leading to sold-out shows. The following year, he performed in sold-out shows, opening for Montgomery Gentry and David Alan Coe at The Roseland Theater in Portland, Oregon. Kurt’s remarkable journey continued in 2014 when he collaborated with Blake Shelton and Erich Church.
As of 2024, Kurt’s music has been streamed and downloaded in over 100 countries worldwide, amassing over five million streams. He continues to tour nationwide, spreading his country music across the country. Kurt’s remarkable ability to effectively provide services as a private investigator during the day and transition to performing in the evenings has earned him a reputation for excellence in both fields. Kurt takes pride in his dual occupations, showcasing his versatility and dedication to his craft.
Kurt made his hobby of music into a major career, so he has had the chance to do what he loves. He also can be found in the wilderness hunting when he has time, but spends as much time as possible with his kids.
